So I’ve been slacking off when it comes to updating this website. Last time I wrote one of these the previous unit (PS2) had just finished. Now I find the latest unit nearing an end so… I thought it was about time to update.
The current unit (Game Engine and Middleware Development) is a couple of days from being completely over and when that happens i’ll be starting my dissertation. So what has the course work been for this unit. Well…
“Design and implement an extended/advanced functionality of an existing engine. This includes writing middleware libraries and integrating them within the existing engine.”
What does this mean, well at the moment i’m implementing a terrain module in Renderware graphics. You can have a look for yourself as below are a couple of screenshots of my terrain in progress. The car model is in there because we also have to create a demonstration game using said implemented module.
The first screenshot shows the randomly generated terrain algorithm in action. The second screenshot shows terrain loaded via a heightmap and textured according to its height (Hope to get some blending in later).
In other news I eventally purchased an XBox 360 along with two games (Hitman : Blood Money and Table Tennis) . Normally I would have purchased Hitman for PC rather than console but since it was only an extra tenner with the machine I thought, why not. I’ll give you more of my thought on those in a later update. Bye.
