Ok so the last post might have been a little late, like two weeks late but, better late than never.
In University news I have an exam tomorrow, fun, joy and excitement. I really should be revising rather than writing this blog but that never stopped me in the past. Once the exam is over and done with I plan on working my arse into the ground over the next week and hopefully have a significantly finished game. The development on the PS2 has been slow due in part to using Linux which is a new experience for me. Thank God for Windows or Bill, or are they the same entity?
The Hidden is coming along, with the extra time I’m trying to add some features that wouldn’t have made it in this build. I’ve also found a couple of problems which I’m currently fixing, nothing major to fix but potentially a problem if it wasn’t spotted. Funnily enough nobody else has picked up on these problems yet all relating to using different screen resolutions (“640 X 480″ I Hate YOU!)
Ok, gotta revise, bye.

So, on Monday morning at 4.00am, I’ll be getting up, ready for that all important trip to America for GDC/IGF. It’s a wonderful, near 24 hour trip which should leave us all tired and deflated, bring it on.
Work has begun on the PS2 development kits and is going well, slow but well. The assignment has changed once again (not like it was ever finalised in the first place) and this time it looks like creating a new version of slime volleyball. I think Mark is looking for us to do a much improved version with power up, special moves and whiz bang graphics.
The Hidden is next on my things to talk about. The new version was meant for a Wednesday released but a lack of proper testing has resulted in it being pushed back. New update : The Hidden won’t be released until after IGF now although we will have a few servers up so people can still play the newest version.
The team has been thinking about what to do after The Hidden has been completed. Only preliminary discussions but the early results are exciting.

It’s less than two weeks before flying out to California for IGF. We still plan to get the Hidden out before going so hopefully we can sort out any bugs found in the next couple of days.
University wise, the research proposal was handed in last Monday and hopefully it’ll be another pass. The new unit is basically playing around with the PS2 Linux kits. The assignment which hasn’t been finalised but will probably be, programming Perlin noise and then adding that to a mesh to generate terrain. This shouldn’t be too difficult and at least we have the Easter holidays to get things done.
That’s your lot for now, bye.
