An update, well…
Nothing much to say really, this is more an update for update sake. I passed another unit, yeah.
Development on The Hidden continues as planned with many of the new features in already. The two sounds guys have really being working hard and their work adds a lot to the overall feel and quality of the mod. GDC is coming up faster than we’d all like but I’m sure we can pull together to get the job done. The radar is coming along and I’m re-doing the radio menus for both the Hidden and the Marines. I’ve posted a screenshot of the radar in it’s current state, still needs loads of work.
In other news I’ve decided on my Master dissertation and I have just five days to write the introduction and literature analysis, fun. I decided to look at serious games which are basically games which attempt to educate the user in a gaming environment. I plan on creating the framework for a prototype game which places the player in control of an emergency control room. You’ll have to deal with emergency situations and work with all the relevant forces (fire, police and ambulances) to control these situations. The current title is “Design and Implementation of Emergency Control Simulator”.
Currently listen to “Panic! At the Disco” so far I’m really enjoying the album, stand out tracks so far are “London Beckoned Songs Above Money Written By Machines” and “But It’s Better If You Do”.
Well I better get back to writing this proposal or I’ll never pass.

I was going to update over the weekend but just plain forgot. The news is that Mobile Game development is over and I did manage to pull something out my arse, whether any good? is still left to be seen. I’ll update my portfolio soon, showcasing some screenshots and the finished product. Although without a Pocket PC or emulator, you’ll not be able to play it.
I’m going to San Jose in March for the GDC/IGF. The visit, apart from showcasing the Hidden, should be excellent and am really tempted to do the whole tourist thing. Hopefully we can show off the new version which currently, is in the works. I did manage to get some work done on the team and weapon menus as well as implementing a CS style weapon drop. I’ll carry on with the menus hopefully getting them to a near finished state by the end of the week.
I’ve added some stuff to my portfolio, mainly some level design I did in early 2005 for Counter-Strike. Below are a couple of screenshots of those maps, de_takedown and cs_heathrow so enjoy.
I’ll update when new stuff arrives.
