So I didn’t get the job, bugger. Oh well, can’t win all the time. The main reason was my unwillingness to work through Christmas. Oh wait, can’t call it that anymore since I may offend those who don’t celebrate Christmas. The truth is that these minority groups couldn’t careless, it’s the political correctness society gone completely mental that’s to blame. Therefore in true PC style, I wish you all Seasonal Greeting during this Winter Holiday Period.
Lately I’ve been playing far too much PES 5 and haven’t been doing enough work, things have to change. Mark finally gave us the assignment and it involves producing a racing game prototype using RenderWare. We have the option of three main styles of racer, a Mario Kart, F1 or Wipeout style racer. I still haven’t completely decided on which style to base my racer so at the moment I am kind of working on a middle ground solution.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of months or have absolutely no interest in video games (fool!) then you won’t be aware that the Xbox 360 has just been launched here in the UK. It does interest me and I will be getting one, just not at this point in time. Apparently 10% of all 360’s sold in America have been resold on eBay at a hyped price. This infuriates me because it’s such a good idea. Frankly, if you really wanted one you could have easily pre-ordered before release, so you really have no excuse. As for the launch titles, only a few have caught my eye, these consist of PGR3, Perfect Dark Zero and NFL. I’ll be waiting until the price comes down before getting one, although I don’t think the launch price is that terrible.

Without possessing one I really can’t give you an opinion but as soon as my money problems are over which either involves, winning the lottery (unlikely), marrying into money (even more unlikely) or actually getting a job that pays well (might happen), you’ll then get my full opinion.
Ok, that’s all from me for now, Ciao.

Well I had to get a job sooner or later and its finally happening. I’m getting a job.
This isn’t anything permanent, far from it. I need a job that will earn me at least some spending money and can partially fill the hole that the student loan once occupied. Hopefully the job won’t get in the way of University work or the job I have through the Uni. The job at Uni mainly consists of aiding students with their 3D Studio Max assignments. This job hasn’t gone down well with some of the more artistic housemates. They seem to think that coder’s shouldn’t really be teaching 3D studio Max and to pour salt further on their wounds, the job pays £16.75 an hour, RESULT! As it stands at the moment I am yet to be paid, so I’ll have to find out what’s going on with that.
RenderWare is next on the list of things to talk about. This week Mark set us the challenge of recreating a Rubik’s Cube in RenderWare. I’ve been working on the Cameras, Chris worked on getting the model loading correctly and the GUI in place and Jon worked on getting the separates bits to spin. Hopefully all the parts will come together and work properly.
So on to the assignment, I’ve been trying to figure out what type of game to make and eventually it came down to a few ideas. These ideas mainly revolved around recreating an old school game from the 80’s. This does seem plausible in the relatively short time span. Next job is actually choosing a game to re-make.
Well that’s your lot for now, I know I didn’t get round to giving you my views on The Movies, I’ll leave that for next time.
